Procedures:
I. Purpose of Cleaning a Television
A. Reduce the spread of nosocomial infections by disinfecting this patient/resident contact equipment.
B. Increase the life of the television by keeping it clean and dust free.
II. Procedure for Cleaning a Television
A. Put on your gloves and goggles.
B. Fill trigger sprayer with diluted cleaner disinfectant solution following manufacturer’s directions.
C. Turn off the television. Never clean the television while it is turned on. If the patient/resident is watching it at the time, ask if you may turn it off for cleaning.
D. Spray disinfectant solution onto clean cloth. Never spray the disinfectant solution directly on the television!
E. Wipe the front and side vertical surfaces and the top and bottom of the television. Never wipe the back of the unit with a wet cloth!
