Cleaning a Machine
PROCEDURE FOR CLEANING A MACHINE
Cleaning Tools & Materials Needed:
l. Industrial Cleaner/Disinfectant
2. Brushes
3. Gloves
4. Scrapers
5. Pump or wet/dry vacuum
6. Pump-up sprayer or pressure washer
7. Coveralls
8. Safety Glasses
9. Foam gun
Cleaning Procedures:
Put on gloves and goggles.
1. Remove all old coolant with pump or wet vac.
2. Remove all chips or fines.
3. Remove and clean splash guards, pump filters and weirs.
4. Add enough water for the machine pump to pick up and add machine cleaner. Be sure to follow manufacturer’s instructions on label.
5. Turn on pump and allow cleaner to circulate for no less than l5 minutes.
6. While cleaner is circulating, scrub or use pressure washer to clean all surfaces.
7. Turn on the machine pump.
8. Pump out or vacuum the cleaner from the sump.
9. Inspect the machine to be sure it is clean.
10. Put clean water in the sump…enough for the machine pump to pick up.
11. Turn on machine pump and allow clean water to circulate.
12. Turn off machine pump.
13. Fill pump-up sprayer with diluted coolant and spray all tables and ways to prevent flash rust.
14. Pump or vacuum rinse water from the sump.
15. Charge the machine with coolant.
16. With the wet/dry vac, vacuum the floor around the machine.
