Tennis Shoe Scuffs
A Question from a uClean user on how to get black tennis shoe marks off white tile hallways.
QUESTION: Sir, I work at a large Elementery School and we have a very hard time getting the black marks from tennis shoes off of our white tile hallways. We use the old tennis-ball method of rubbing them off first,then we use our floor scrubber machine to try to clean the floors. Do you have any product that will go into our Alto floor scrubber to remove the black rubber marks? There has to be something that will work! Thank You!
ANSWER: Unfortunately there is not a magical cure for that one that I am aware of, if there was we would be super hero’s. To answer your question there are a couple of tips that could possibly help you get better results. The problem is that a cleaner strong enough to get the black marks up, is too strong for the wax, so it will dull it. Possible tips are:
1. Instead of putting your neutral cleaner in the auto-scubber, pre spray the area to be cleaned with your neutral cleaner and allow 5 min. duel time, then scrub and pick up with your auto-scrubber.
2. Do a double scrub with your auto scrubber, again leaving chemical down longer to get better results on the 2nd pass.
3. Select a 3m Eraser pad as your wax burnishing pad, which will help reduce but not eliminate the marking. (will remove some marking)
4. Use a slightly stronger dose of a good all purpose cleaner (like johnson’s UHS cleaner for high speed floors) but be careful this could dull finish.
5. My recommendation is to do a combination of steps 1-3.
Wish I could tell you something a little better, but hopefully this does help. Let me know if you end up using any of these suggestions and if they work.
