A commercial janitorial service should consider either an upright or backpack vacuum or both. The cord should be 50 feet long. If the cord is too short, you will be stopping too often to find another outlet. If it is too long, it may accidentally topple something way behind you.
Some machines are now HEPA rated. This rating means the machine has a much improved air-filtration system over more traditional vacuums. Indoor air-quality is an issue you will want to consider if vacuuming is a major part of your work routine.
